To my best-est friend

To my best-est friend,

something that had blossom from mere friendship and to cultivate over the years till both parties agreed to take the leap onto marriage - is not easy

many of us, myself inclusive are fearful of this process, a coward indeed. I had so much question marks looking at myself and reflecting on my life. As much as i have found the perfect man i can no longer ask more for, i lack the courage to drown myself into the psychological contract i believe i am signing myself up for.

My dear, you and him, having dated for almost a century had seen things no one elses would have seen in each other. When you first told me this --" i know you might not agree with me, but when i look at him all i saw was how handsome this guy is, standing before me. Its like everything about him is so perfect... dont you agree"

and though i cannot see beneath what you were mentioning (Heis attractive and has a awesome characteristics) i could see that eyes you use to look at Kive beaming with so much hope, love and joy. For the first time in my life 5 yrs ago, i understood what you had that i havent achieve - you have found love.

I know its hard to believe just how one sentence from you meant so much to me, but my dear, i swear after that day, i knew what it meant when someone said "i think he is the one"

As we prep ourselves (your mindset in particular) for the new journey that shall take place, there were so many doubts that came across your mind. Each and every time, you would talk yourself out of it. And as quickly as you fall in misery you would snap out of it. There is a place in your heart that already knew how much you want to protect this man you have chosen, yet the other parts of you wanted to make sure you have chosen the correct guy.

My bestest friend, we both knew you were certain of the decision, there are just too many surround issues that challenge your determination. When you first declare, 8 years ago that love will stand at first priority, afterwhich came friendship, i was mad, very mad at how you could give up everything we had together for a person you barely knew for months.

Then we fast forward till 2012, when i look back at all that you had been through, and understood why you had made that comment. I would have done the same, having found the right choice myself. He is like the prize possession you own and the only thing you need to work harder to keep around. Indeed, when it comes to choosing a right other half, love will win even friendship

When you think back at all the things you had taught me about love and life. Please know just how much you have change my mindset, and how much you have change your own mindset (during this 8 years) after meeting him..... you already know how much he should mean to you so darling, now take sometime to think about some unforgetable memories from year 1 till year 8 (so you should have at least 8 events you can rmemeber).... smile and be proud of your achievement.

Always there,
Kristal

Losing Weight

So lately, i have been hearing friends talking about taking different sets of diet plans, and among them low carb diet stands out..

I am forever a diet person like any other girls. I am weight conscious and i get super upset with the tiny surge in weight on the weighing scale. I use to love late night suppers, especially the Wanton Mees Dad will wake us all up to eat at 2.30am in the morning, that was my favorite.   I had to curb all these habits as soon as i link them all to diet....

THE LOW CARB DIET

In my opinion, us chinese being real fan of rice certainly hasnt do us any good, rice is the number one killer food in my carb list, and with practive over the years, i have became a person who can deal with this rule --> One rice portion per day, rice for lunch then noodle for dinner or vice versa. I never allow myself to take more than one portion of rice per day  (er-hem   fried rice is an exception.. this is the loophole//. oops)

And then it came as a shock when i found out sugar is part of the restricted food in low carb diet... sugar!!! i need my dessert/bubble tea/cakes/milo/tea intake.. how is life going to be like with sugar!@

yesyes.. so against sugary food i can only resort to using candy stickers on my blog =(

Was it hard to live life with a low carb diet ---> frankly.. yes.. it was torturous.. and what was worst was that my weigh did not fluctuate that much... in fact i had long lost my lightest weight slightly after the op

anyone who has been light before will always craves to return to that day... and i want my 45kg back!!!!!

So i was reading this articles on "soft-carb diets" and found it surprisingly different from the usual low-carb diet....

To begin, not all carb-food are to be avoided (this was probably the steadfast rule in low carb diet, anything that exceeded the daily carb limit has to go!)

define = A slow carb diet should not be confused with a low carb diet, which restricts the overall amount of carbs you eat. Instead, a slow carb diet restricts mainly carbs that are processed, such as white breads, rice and snack foods, and allows you to eat carbs that are not processed (complex carbs).

In short ..... here are the do's and dont's.. usethem wisely and you should be able to lose a litte weight..

Avoid these carbs:

- White bread
- White rice
- Chips
- Cookies
- Snack foods
- Candy and sweets
- Desserts
- Juice
- Cola
- Other sugared beverages
- Potatoes
- Flavored Yogurts

Eat these carbs:
- Long grain rice (or brown rice)

- Whole grain bread
- Whole grain cereals
- Vegetables
- Oats
- Unsweetened coffee and tea

ok.. i admit.. it is STILL gonna be hard keeping up with unsweeten drink.. but at least we get to replace brown rice for fried rice and still eat them? haha.. and i do know of one fantastic replacement for sugary drink (i use honey to make my drinks sweet)

afterall, weigh is gonna be an issues we'll all worry about (unless u are so lucky to be born with good genes.. den... eff-off.. i am jealous =P

I just signed up for the saloman run 2012 together with a couple of colleagues and bbbbb... this should mark the start of a better relationship with the colleagues, hopefully a chance to interact better.. and also to intro to them bbbbb... i am crossing my fingers..

and apart from all these i am constantly brainstorming ideas to start an online business.. after the setback from BHP and ICBS i am adamant the next try should no longer be a mistake (not that it was a mistake, we make profit but the friendship was put at risk)... its gonna be a hardwork this time.. doing everything on my own hoping not to jeopardize any friendship... i am going to take it slow...

My graduation/convocation is tomorrow !!~
the photoshoot with my family has already taken place last sunday (never more appreciative than that experience, everyone put down everything and cancel every appointment to make it happen.. i am so thankful it took place).... i cant wait to secure all the pictures and post them online to share =)

This also means i;ve finally came to a long halt on my education journey.... no i am not so determine this would be the last..because i know i can do further... but i will have to divert the concentration on my career, working myself up the ladder before making any future education plans... the tiny project of drafting the answers for my friend for her exam is coming to an end too.. i am left with 2 more essays to produce and i am good to call it quit... i cant wait.. but i cant bear too..

ok.. as usual.. drifting WAY OFF the topic..

Useful task manager tips

Explanation in Simple terms --> as simple as someone with lousy IT knowledge like me to understand

Credits to this
How: Ctrl+Alt+Del --> task Manager --> Click on "Performance" tab
This is what you should see =)

Second Red panel -- Physical Memory (K)

  • The "total" info --> system memory 2095580kb = 2gb = 2000mb
  • The "available" info --> space available, impt to note, low memory is BAD (your laptop will use the space from elsewhere.. in conclusion spoil faster lah)... you should add memory, per picture 1.2gb available
  • The "system Cache" info --> not important
Third Red panel -- Commit Charge (K)
  • The "total" info -->  used process+program space
  • The "Limit" info --> Total process+program space usable
  • The "Peak" info --> Maximum memory used at one time since you use your laptop
TAKE ACTION
  1. if this "commit"-Total panel exceed "physical Memory"-Total panel  == Time to add physical memory, even if your performance level is not affected, your laptop is increasingly spoiling
  2. At "Commit" panel,   Total value very near Limit value == BAD, hello?!~ no more space to do anything else liao
  3. At "Commit" panel,   Peak value very near Limit value == BAD, more often than not, the processes that is taking place in your laptop is at its maximum every second, you will spoil your laptop soon.... very soon

Good luck.///

Doppelganger

I've always have a habit of picking out words i find interesting and googling it till i get the meaning (like how bbbbbbb name me the google-girl) So today i was reading a blog entry and chance upon this word "doppelganger" and found it very interesting thus lead me into a exessive amount of research.

The general meaning of the word doppelganger (pronounce dope-per-gang-ger) was use to mean somebody of the same kind, A ghostly double of a living person, especially one that haunts its fleshly counterpart.

Upon further research i came across countless entires of doppelganger sighting among us people, with some relating doppelganger diretly to death. Many has said that the sighting of doppelganger is a bad sign and usually means a misfortune is about to befall. I am unsure how true this may be but some stories are taken from famous people (i.e Queen Elizabeth i cannot remember which one).

One particular entry about how a school teacher in the 1980s was very well known among her students for her "evil-twin"/doppelgang that would appear randomly during her class, many times mimicking her movement (one time she was teaching and writing on the chalkboard and all of a sudden the entire class of 42 students witness how her doppelganger mysteriously walk into the classroom, mimick her exact same movement EXCEPT without the chalk) (another incident was when the students were attending sewing class one afternoon and could clearly see outside their classroom window that their teacher was by the garden doing her planting, the next moment they saw her doppelganger appear sitted right in  front of her usual chair, looking pale and not moving at all. two courageous students went forward and attempt to move her lifeless body, but instead of touching her their finger swap right through her body!)

The teacher in question had never saw her doppelganger but claim each time there was a sighting by the students she tend to feel very out of breath and tired, as thou her energy had been shared by another self.

Interesting (and a little creepy right?). Many of them have link doppelganger as a direct relation to haunted experience, while a rational lots suggest the existence of doppelganger could arise from astral projection.

Which brings us to another point- what is astral projection? Had it not been for 9gag.com i would never come across this words (yes i googled about it WAY BEFORE i learnt about doppelganger).

At one point of the 9gag hype, astral projection was "the thing" and there were many arguements about how we can uplift ourselve from the physical body by staying conscious as you are about to fall asleep, read here on the "how-to" (i am advising you not to give it a shot as many have claim it was one of their worst experience/sighting/encounter in their life.

Anyway, in short, with astral projection, you an separate your "soul" from your body (subconsciously it should feel like you are dreaming EXCEPT you can ACTUALLY see your body asleep, right where you left yourself). From then on you can explore what lies beneath the human world, as a cross over into your "dream-world". If you, like me, had seen this movie (insidious.... gosh.. it gives me the WORST goosebump ever) you would have a rough idea of how astral projection works, and also how many claims of sighting the netherworld can take place here.

the thought of the movie Insidious still gives me much goosebump, i remembered it was back when i was putting up at bbbbbbbbb place and one weekday afternoon while everyone has left for work/shopping i've decided to plug on my earpiece to catch the movie all-by-myself (for your info, bbbbbbb hates horror movie, and not wanting to disappoint me, he would get hold of these movies-download, purchase whatsoever- and leave it in his computer so i can catch them when i want to)

I vividly remember how i was so frequently freak out by the movie that towards the middle i could no longer plug my earpiece and instead had to put it on mute so i breathe a little (yes yes i forget to breathe when the movie gets too good).... Lil'sis caught the same movie in the cinema and after some verification i would just like to highlight that Singapore theatre has certainly does a good job in censoring what could be the ESSENCE of this horror, anyone who wants to be scared out of their wits should get hold of the original film and watch it alone - YES watch it with your earplug, full blast sound quality in a dark room- like me!

okokok.. i am drifting away... so back to doppelganger, since many sightings of a evil twin were also encounter by a third party
  • i.e a brother saw his sister in the room when she was working,OR
  • a girlfriend saw her boyfriend doing his stuff in the living room, and saw him again sleeping the room, both "boyfriend" wearing entirely different attire
Some have explain these sightings was done when the person subconscisouly drift from his body while asleep and the "soul" wonders around in the "other" world, even as it appears to the third party that he is living in the "current"world. A little hard to understand - but - IYKWIM *wink*

i guess its amazing how a lot of things are taking place when we have no freaking idea how it happened. i ever came across an article that teaches people how to hold your breath till you faint, and for that split second experience dejavu or simply experience "flash-images" of your living life. How true is that? i cannot tell, but i have seen pictures on STOMP on how alot of students nowadays have put this to the test, the video they took look so real and these student faint so sudden it really freak me out a little.

i also tried recalling if i had my own doppelganger experience? Nope, but i remember one period of my childhood that was really unexplainable.

So those who know me by now will know of my brother who was a year younger than me, we shared similar childhood and we were usually taken care of by our maid, fed the same stuff, attended the same kindergarten and played the same toy.

My bro had an imaginery friend, not the sort you would laugh over as you grow up. His friend was a Uncle we both name "黑人牙膏叔叔" due to this look. I have NEVER see this Uncle in my life but "he" would visit my brother at about the same time every day  (for YEARS) and they would play some games on their own while i stand at a corner, all jealous and angry about how "he" wouldnt play with me instead.

My bro claim "he" look like a man from the past, dress neatly in Tux and had a tall hat, he also had the acient moustache.

How i had imagine "him" to look like according to my brother's description.

Anyhow, he kept my brother accompanied for years during our kindergarten days, our maid will force us to take afternoon nap and while i lie on the mattress pretending to sleep, i would see how my bro spend the entire afternoon playing with "him". He would toss the eraser he had gotten from school on the floor, and then giggled talk to "him", pick up the eraser and continue playing. My memories of him stayed on for years till he eventually stop talking about him.

So a couple of years back (i am 25 now so my bro is 24) i ask Gary about this "Uncle" friend when he was a kid, he hesitated for a while, finds it hard to explain how the uncle came about, took a even longer time figuring if he truly exist, and eventually told me the uncle "should" exist as he has a clear image of how he look like in his head.

\
Weird, i know right? In fact i didnt find it creepy, more like "amazing" how as young kids, we had both came across (him as the main lead and me as the calefare) an experience that could keep us thinking till date.

Do anyone i know share a similar sighting? Or a doppelganger perhaps?

The past weeks..

There's been a little delays in my entries and nope, i wasnt slacking =)

i've spent a couple of fruitful weeks meeting up friends from the past, catching up and hearing about everyone's life-little-story, its a ear-opening experiences i must say. Gonna work harder on planning more meetups with all the people i wanna cherish =)

One sunday afternoon, bbbbb had arranged a meetup with his cousins and their partners and it was set at Yum Cha @ Serangoon Country club. My first trip there and i find the food really yummy. Like you must know by now i am not somebody relatively prone at capturing food (i prefer taking pic of humans ) thus no food to make you salivate. bbbbb's friend from USA was there, and so was his cousin and her darling Toddler who had flewn in from Birmingham UK. Such an occasion is so hard to come by, and i am glad bbbbbbb had a great time catching up with his cousins. They ALWAYS have so much things to talk about =)

bbbbb calling his cousin to confirm if we should walk in or wait for a seat. It's really crowded on Sunday at Gardens, everyone wakes up really early for their meals there.. After dating bbbb for a while i find it pretty normal already.. hurhur
I worn a pretty dress from Agneselle that Mee-pok (A.k.a Phyl) has pass on to me. She finds the dress unsuitable for her height and the advantages is the shorty (me!) gets it instead =) thanks love, i really love how the dress fits...

And there is my sandal from Schu that i;ve gotten after some raving by bbbbbbb's lilsis- Charmine. She was pairing lotsa of her clothing with this gem sandals and after a while i got hooked too! haha.. i finish the entire ensemble with my Ted Baker bag (did i mention bbbbbbb was so glad i finally brought it out instead of displaying behind the cabinet like some trophies. hahah)...
The entrance leading to Yum Cha, and that was probably all the pictures i took before i completely forget to snap a couple more for a proper blog entry =P

Here's some pic i steal off facebook from the very lovely Xiao Han - bbbb's cousin's gf... she is so pretty she should be a model lah! (dont say i am exaggerating.. go click on the link and you can see her!) haha
---

The same afternoon, bbbb and i spent some time with Mum/Dad/Lilsis. It wasnt a planned trip but we ended up at East Coast grabbing some Korea food for dinner...

bbbbb reminded me that we will have to let both our parents know that we are doing really well as a couple.

As such, the very hardworking boy has been dropping by my house at least once a week, sharing dinner with me, spending some quality time chatting with my family and watching tv with me. I am really touched at his effort and am glad that after 4 years of dating we are finally stable enough to "want-to" show everyone else =)

My extremely young parents that had given up much youth to raise us all up. And here you see how they are STILL very much in love...

And you might also notice Mum's newest hairstyle that looks like a chinese version of Sharon Osbourne
My now slightly smaller arms.
bbbb offering to BBQ the meat when the waitress walks off. His reason "why wait till she walks back to enjoy dinner?"
Dinner came up to about $200(ex in my opinion). bbbb and i gave them a treat, we walked around east coast a little before sending bbbb home *Self-note: bbb prefers to travel back himself

The korea food was pretty ok overall, Dad wasnt a a huge fan and i wasnt sure how all the pork belly (yucks) can keep me full. The pancakes tasted the same as those you can easily get elsewhere and only the Bibimbap tasted nice in my opinion (with addition of Lilsis mixing of course.. only she mix the correct portion)

--
so last sat, i was in the mood for some baking, and so i google a safe-receipe off the net to make Strawberry Jelly Hearts Cheesecake
My fantastics multi-tasking skills you cannot find elsewhere!
This was the part that spoil the cheesecake, bbbb and i couldnt find Gelatin anywhere and we had to replace it with agar agar powder (which pretty much soften the cheese-layer of the cake till i no longer see it as being successful - despite bbbbb's encouragement that it tasted pretty nice.. he ate most of it :)
our favorite brand of cheese is Philadephia, bbbb taste other brands and only Lurpak seems to be the nearest competitor (Lurpak has no cream cheese)
So you see while i was busy baking him a sweet dessert (heehee)
my bf's busy hanging his clothes to dry... HIS FAVORITE HOBBY.

no joke.. my bf loves to do the laundry... also something i hate doing because i almost fell off the window once when i had to keep the bamboo pole.
haha.. i know right.. we look like we are reaady to start a family.. haha
cutting strawberrys into heart-shaped. Korea strawberries failed!
aligning them into the cream cheese pan, all ready to be frozen
notice the strawberries cannot look like a pretty hearts and because the pan was a tad too tiny, i ended p arrangement them to look presentable (not lovely *sobx)--> and off it went into the fridge for 4 hours
took it out of the fridge later that evening, coat it with strawberry jelly liquid and pop it into the fridge again for another couple of hours.
----

and yeap.. my boyfriend REALLY love this cake, so i shall bake a couple more time (WITH GELATIN) till he gets hooked.

Whats a better way to pull your bf closer than to secure his appetite? heehee
